My first pattern is here!

Yes my group finally got it’s first pattern.  Of course the printer is out of ink so until I get to the store I am gathering up my material and other supplies.  I have some vintage fabric that is 36″ wide and is shirting material.  I hope that there is enough for me to do this pattern.  Seems no one has posted yet from my group that they got their patterns so I won’t spill the beans yet.  I will say that it is the pattern I wanted.

Since I had my surgery a few weeks ago I put the slip challenge on hold and now that I am felling much better, mostly lack of energy, I will work on it at the same time.  I need that for my outfit anyway.  I am placing an order at Fashion Fabrics and will add some batiste to the order.

Getting Started

Today was a perfect day to start on my challenge. It is raining, snowing, and freezing rain to boot. I printed out 30 pages of the pdf and began putting the puzzle together. Thanks to the help of Lm Oti and Mary Stivers for drawing up and posting the layout of how each page should go. Once the first row was laid out the rest was a piece of cake. Now to gather up some fabric for the mock up and get sewing. Since I plan to wear what I sew I will be making it in my size.

I have cut the pattern apart now and will be ready to start tomorrow with the mock up fabric.  I am off to look for some lovely fabric and lace on line to make the final slip.

TAKING PART IN THE 1912 TITANIC PROJECT

I have been a living historian and reenactor of the 1830’s and 1860’s for almost 20 years but here I find myself interested with the early 20thC. Lately I have been working on my family tree and found that my father, his sister and mother all came over form England on the Lusitania in 1911. I wish I had some photos of my grandmother then but they were poor and could not afford to do that. My father was 1 and a day when they landed at Elise Island. I can remember my father telling me stories of my grandmother wearing high collars that were starched and had stays to keep them standing up straight.
This is surly going to be a challenging project but that is ok. I am always up for a good challenge. My first project will be the monthly challenge that has been sent out to those interested in taking it on. Since my group is waiting for they regular monthly pattern this slip will keep me busy while I wait. So now I will have something to wear under my new 1912 duds.
